It’s 7pm on New Years Eve and we have no reservations since we’re new parents and hardly get to think of ourselves. Conrads Mom offered to watch our 10 month old daughter ZAZA so we could have a date night. We’ve visited Florence, South Carolina before but never really fully explored what this cute town has to offer. Our thought was to hop in the car and figure out our plans along the way. We drove downtown and scored free parking! (Extra plus because their downtown parking is FREE everywhere.) Who gets anything for free now a days? Ha
We saw a beautiful boutique hotel called Florence Hotel. The outside said something about wine and steak. (Conrad noticed that part)
We decided to be spontaneous and see if we could score a table. Upon entering the hotel, the attendant “Karen” was so lovely and kind to us. We asked her about the sign outside that said something about food. She gave us a huge smile and we chatted for a quick sec and she pointed to the back. (Whoop, we found a food gem)
We walked over to the hostess. She couldn’t greet us but seemed a little busy with another customer. It was New Years Eve after all so I kindly asked if I could be seated at the bar. There were two seats. I felt like they were glowing from across the room just for us!
Anyways, she responded, “we have no tables but you can go ahead and seat yourself at the bar.”
It was so perfect because we were so hungry and really wanted to enjoy a daddy and mommy date night. The restaurant is called Victors. They have won some awards apparently so that was a plus for us.
Brandon approached us and suggested some delicious local beers. We tried an orange fruity flavor one and a cheery one. We ordered them each. The vibe was on point. Everyone was snuggled up to their significant other some people were leaning in to talk to friends. I could tell people were creating special memories over a nice meal. There was laughter and chatter and a overall happy vibe. I loved the paintings on the walls from local artist. Football was being played on the big screen above the top shelve on the bar. I believe it was the Michigan game. Although they had a special menu, we opt for the steak …medium rare with sweet potato fries. I also ordered the Ahi Tuna Nachos. My goodness, they know how to cook some food. That was the best damn steak, I’ve had in a long time. It was perfection. I snapped a few photos from my experience at this place. I highly suggest you stay at the hotel or at least dine at this local spot. It’s probably a special place to the community.
Ambiance was very nice and service was great. The best steak that I have had in a long time.
